The Ministry of Finance and the Ghana Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (GHEITI) in collaboration with the German Development Cooperation (GIZ) have organized a two day dissemination workshop on the 2014 GHEITI Mining & Oil/Gas Report to stakeholders as well as community members in the Ellembelle District.
The workshop organized through the Ellembelle District Assembly was held on Monday, 22nd May, 2017 at the Conference Room of B&Q Hotel, Nkroful. The two days programme was well attended by the District Coordinating Director (Mr. Innocent Haligah), Heads of Departments /Institutions/Agencies, Civil Society Organizations, those in the Extractive Industries, Chiefs, the Presiding Member, Hon. Assembly Members, Area Council Chairpersons as well as the general public.
Participants were taken through the Concepts, Principles and the Impact of GHEITI on Policy development and implementation by Dr. Steve Manteaw of PWYP-Ghana (Co-Chair, GHEITI), whiles Mr. Boa-Amponsem of Boas & Associates presented the 2014 GHEITI Mining & Oil/Gas Report.
The workshop provided all participants the opportunity of understanding the happenings in the Extractive Industry and the way forward. They called for more of such engagements with community members for a better understanding and collaboration with the companies operating in their respective communities.
