The Statistics Department, established under the local Governance Act, plays a vital role in local government by collecting, analyzing and disseminating data to support decision-making. The department’s core functions include data collection, analysis and the preparation of reports for the Assembly, as well as assisting in budget preparation and providing data for various planning activities.

Data collection and Management

  • Collect, compile and store data from various sources, adhering to standardized formats developed by the GSS.
  • Manage the department’s database and ensure the day -to-day running of the statistical system.

Data Analysis and Reporting

  • Analyze collected data to generate insights for various planning and decision -making processes.
  • Produce reports (monthly, quarterly and annual) and update statistical records for official use and dissemination.

Planning and Budgeting

  • Provide crucial statistical data and analysis to inform the preparation of the District Assembly’s budget and development plans.
  • Identity and respond to the data requirements of all departments within the Assembly.

Monitoring and Dissemination

  • Monitor statistical enquiries and surveys conducted within the district to ensure adherence to national guidelines.
  • Disseminate and publish statistical data, making it accessible to stakeholders, institutions and individuals.

Advisory and Promotional Roles
