Farmers Day Celebration is an annual event organize to honor farmers and fishers as well as recognized the hardworking farmers in the district. The theme for this year’s celebration was “Accelerating Agricultural Development Through Value Addition”. The celebration was held on the 2nd of December 2022 at the Roman catholic park Menzezor where all kinds of food items were displayed. The event was attended by the divisional chiefs including the host chief, Nana Akye Blay VII, the chief of Akoto, Nana Nyanzu Amihere IV, the chief of Asanda, Nana Akpor Ababio kpanyinli IV and others. Heads of Department and Institutions who graced the occasion includes, the District Police Commander, District Fire Commander, the NIB officer, Community Relations Officer for Adamus, Senior Manager of Ghana Gas, District Health Director, District Education Director and other heads from the banking institutions in the district.
The Member of Parliament for Ellembelle District, Hon. Emmanuel Armah Kofi-Buah in his remarks congratulated the farmers especially, the awards winners for their effort in ensuring food security in the country. He indicated the need for the government to improve the road conditions of the northern part of the district to improve food production in the district. The district Chief Executive also extend his sincerest felicitations to all the farmers from His Excellency, the President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Danquah Akuffo Addo.
The District Presented awards to 30 farmers from different categories. The overall farmer was received certificate, one tricycle, one motorized sprayer, two bar soap, one Wallington booth, three pieces of cutlasses and fully paid weekends at Ankobra Bridge Hotel.
The first and the second runner-up were each awarded with certificate, one motor bike, one motorized sprayer, two bar soap, one wellington boots and three pieces of cutlases. Farmers who won other various categories received items ranging from roofing sheets, mattresses, oven, fridge among other
