The Ellembelle District Assembly in pursuance of the statutory requirements under the Local Governance Act, 2016 (Act 936), organized a Public Hearing on its four-year District Medium-Term Development Plan (DMTDP) 2026-2029. The Plan, prepared in line with the National Medium-Term Development Policy Framework is on the theme “Resetting-Ghana Agenda: Creating Jobs, Ensuring Accountability and Promoting Shared Prosperity”. It reflects the vision, goals, needs and aspirations of the people of Ellembelle towards a prosperous and sustainable development.
The programme was held on Friday, 7th November 2025 at the Church of Pentecost, Nkroful to further solicit feedback, suggestions, and concerns on the Draft Medium-Term Development Plan and to ensure inclusiveness, transparency and participatory planning. The programme had in attendance representatives from the traditional council, Assembly members, unit committee members, religious groups, identifiable companies, banks and institutions in the district, media representatives, team from the Regional Coordinating Council, CSOs, youth and women groups, associations, selected Senior High and Tech. Schools, among others.
On behalf of the District Chief Executive, Hon. Joseph Agyekum, the District Medium-Term Plan, 2026-2029 was presented by the District Planning Officer, Mr. Theophilus Tamatey-Agbo. He highlighted the various interventions categorized under respective development dimensions – Economic, Social, Environment, Human Settlement and Governance, for collective implementation in the next four years. The interventions outlined include educational infrastructure, healthcare infrastructure, environmental protection, agriculture and trade, WASH services and infrastructure, as well as alternative livelihood support programmes, among others.
He emphasized that the District Assembly with support from the Government and Development Partners is fully committed to participatory implementation of the various programmes and projects to ensure a resilient local economy and collective growth.
