In a bid to build the capacity of the Area Councils within the Ellembelle District to work effectively to boost the revenue at the substructure, seven Area Councils under the Assembly’s watch have received training.
The District Finance Officer, Mr. Samuel Appartaim took members through book keeping and types of cash book to enlighten members on how to do entries in the revenue cash book as well as keep records of their activities for efficiency.
He again, enlightened them on data collection skills, revenue mobilization improvement strategies and basic bookkeeping.
He pointed out that the training was essential to equip Area Council Members with the necessary expertise to work to improve revenue mobilization for their respective Area Councils as the Assembly has ceded some revenue items to them.
Mr. Appartaim indicated that periodic training would be organized for Area Councils as well as Revenue Collectors to enhance their knowledge and competencies in revenue mobilization.
The Human Resource Manager of the Assembly, Mr. Rahman Timtey mentioned that a total of one hundred and thirteen (113) participants were trained adding that 93 were drawn from the seven Area Councils with 15 commission collectors and 5 permanent revenue collectors.
He explained that aside being given training in revenue mobilization strategies, there is the need to train participants in the functions of Area Councils as well as Service Delivery Standards, this according to him would enable them offer effective and efficient service delivery while focusing on clients’ satisfaction in their various communities.
