ELLEMBELLE DISTRICT TAKES STEPS TO END OPEN DEFECATION

The Environmental Health Unit of the Ellembelle District has taken steps to sensitize communities on the need to own toilet facilities in their homes to ensure that government achieves Open Defecation Free (ODF) communities in the country.
The District Environmental Health Officer, Mr. Alex Damptey mentioned that the sensitization programme started with the coastal communities adding that such areas were usually involved in soiling the beaches with human excreta.
He added that when the beaches are clean, it will save the country and communities of so many diseases.
He pointed out that a clean environment was key to maintaining a healthy citizenry adding that it would in turn improve productivity to augment the development of the nation.
