The Ellembelle District Assembly, at Nkroful on 12th February 2024, held a ceremony to inaugurate its 36 elected Assembly members and 16 Government Appointees.
The ceremony took place at the forecourt of Kwame Nkrumah Motel, with 36 elected Assembly Members and 16 Government Appointees present. Mr. Solomon Kwaku Adjei, the District Coordinating Director introduced the Assembly members to be sworn into office.
Her Worship Amissah Awo French, the Magistrate for Ellembelle District Court, representing the Chief Justice, led the new assembly members to swear the official and secrecy oath after which she congratulated them.
Hon Kwasi Bonzo, the District Chief Executive of Ellembelle District Assembly, in delivering his welcome address, thanked the former Assembly Members for their unflinching support of his stewardship of the district for the past 7 years. He congratulated newly sworn-in Assembly members and pledged to work hand in hand with them for the growth of their beloved Assembly.

Hon Emmanuel Armah Kofi Buah, the Member of Parliament for the Ellembelle Constituency, welcomed the Hon. Minister congratulated the newly elected Assembly Members on their elections, and stressed that the Assembly members can only succeed when they work together as a team. He continued to say that, they must work together as a team to join him on the development crusade.

The Hon Member of Parliament took the opportunity to highlight some projects he has executed since he was re-elected into office three years ago. Some of these projects are an ongoing 6-unit classroom block at Ewereko, an ongoing 3-unit Classroom block at Esiama, an ongoing CHPS Centre at (Santaso, Fiasolor), scholarship for over 600 brilliant but needy students, eye screening for over 15000 constituents, Cataract surgery for over 2000 constituents, dental screening, reshaping of roads, skills apprenticeship targeting over 1000 people and distribution learning materials to school and pupils.
Hon. Mustafa Usif, Minister for Sport and MP for Yakaba Kubori
The Minister for Sport, also an MP for Yakaba Kubori Constituency, attended the meeting in the North East Region, Hon. Mustafa Usif, who delivered the president’s speech. He later inaugurated the 9th Assembly of the Ellembelle District Assembly.
The president, inaugural address mandated the assembly members to meet their electorates before and after Assembly meetings to inform and also take their input before assembly meetings. They are to plan, mobilize resources, and make decisions including by-laws to ensure a smooth transition of the Ghana we all want.
He entreated all assembly members to establish a good working relationship with the DCEs, MPs, Assembly staff, and the people they represent as well as establish strong partnerships and collaboration with local structures, particularly traditional leaders, and opinion leaders to facilitate the work of the Assembly.
The meeting ended without a successful election of a presiding member. The first round of voting resulted in 30 YES votes and 0 NO votes from 53 Assembly members present. A second round of voting also ended with 2 YES votes and 0 NO votes. The proceedings were therefore adjourned for 10 days as required by law.
