The District Chief Executive for Ellembelle, Hon. Kwasi Bonzoh has hinted that youth unemployment is not an economic issue but a national security one.
He said government is working tirelessly to ensure that the youth who are the future hope of the nation have decent jobs adding it would engage the youth through the Youth Employment Agency (YEA) in meaningful vocations to enable them fend for themselves and their families.
He admitted that unemployment especially among the youth creates national instability as some frustrated and vulnerable youths engage in social vices that jeopardizes the peace that the nation enjoys.
He made this known at the public hearing in Aiyinase in the Ellemeblle District of the Western Region on Thursday.
He, therefore admonished the youth to take serious their academic and vocational trainings to acquire the requisite qualification to enable them take up opportunities that continue to spring up in the District.
Hon. Bonzoh mentioned that the Assembly is in constant touch with the oil companies to assist in training brilliant youths in oil and gas related areas to enable them march up to the competition and also attain higher positions in the oil and gas industry.
He reiterated government’s commitment to making the oil find in Nzema a blessing to all Ghanaians and so admonished Nzema inhabitants to work towards attaining higher education to be employable in the oil and gas sector to also assess the benefit that come with it.
