WOTSIRHP AND SWCD TRAINS YOUTH IN MEDICINAL MUSHROOM FARMING

WOTSIRHP International, a Non-Governmental Organization whose activities involve training of farmers on healthy farming practices and agro businesses has in collaboration with the Social Welfare and Community Development of the Ellembelle District trained two hundred (200) youth in medicinal mushroom farming.

The two – day training programme, gave one hundred (100) Persons with Disability (PWDs) and a hundred abled youths the opportunity to partake in the training.

The facilitator for the programme, Mr. Wellington Owusu Tabiri indicated that the training was targeted at four hundred youth but was thankful to the youth who made it to the training programme.

He mentioned that since there are two groups of people being brought together for the training, the most conducive approach will be used for both groups to appreciate and understand all the processes.

He indicated that the training will take the groups through modern biotechnologies in mushroom cultivation.

Mr. Owusu Tabiri pointed out that at the end of the training, the trainees will be able to use their expertise in the processing of mushroom bread, chocolate juice as well as capsules for export.

The District Co-ordinating Director, Mr. Emil Atsu Tawiah urged the youths to take the training serious and explained that it is one of government’s interventions in creating jobs for the youth.

He therefore assured that the Assembly will provide the needed help to ensure the success of the training as well as its implementation after the skills acquisition.
