The TREE FOR LIFE reforestation programme was launched on Thursday, June 5,2025 at Aiyinase in the Ellembelle District. The initiative aims to restore degraded lands, increase forest cover and promote sustainable land use. The duration this initiative commencing on 5th June 2025 and ending on 30th June ,2025 will see the planting of 3o million tree seedlings across the country
The event was attended by distinguished guests, including the MCE for Jomoro, Hon.Benedict Boadi, Traditional leaders, Assembly members and Security Personnel.
The District Chief Executive, Hon. Joseph Agyekum emphasized the importance of the programme ,stating that it would help secure the future, protect the environment and ensure sustainable development for generations to come.
The Director of the Tarkwa Municipal of the Forestry Commision educated the gathering on the objectives of the initiative and provided guidance on effective tree planting. Traditional leaders and stake holders urged citizens to actively participate in the programme .Students from Bonzo Kaku Senior High School and the Charlotte Dolphyne Technical Institute also participated in the launch and tree planting.
The TREE FOR LIFE initiative is part of the government’s efforts to restore degraded lands and increase forest cover, with Ellembelle District committed to making a significant impact.
