The Hon. Assembly Members of the Ellembelle District failed to confirm the President’s nominee for the position of the District Chief Executive through the elections held on Thursday 30th September, 2021 at the forecourt of the Kwame Nkrumah Motel in Nkroful.
The election, presided over by the Regional Director of Electoral Commission, Mrs. Angelina Tagoe mentioned that for the Nominee to be confirmed, he needed to attain 35 votes out of the total valid votes to be casted out of the 52 members.
She pointed out that, members were to thumbprint either Yes or No on the provided ballot papers. After the voting exercise, the Yes polled 27, No polled 22 with 3 rejected.
Mrs. Tagoe hinted that since the nominee was not able to attain the 35 Yes votes to approve his nomination, members would have to meet within the next 10 days to vote again.
