The Ellembelle District Assembly on Thursday 23rd January, 2020 failed to elect its Presiding Member as the only nominee could not attain 36 votes out of the total vote cast.
Honorable Samuel Asmah who has served at the Assembly in the previous tenure and presently a government appointee garnered 23 Yes votes against 27 No votes with one rejected.
This made members to go on a runoff which also gave Honourable Asmah 25 Yes Votes against 25 No votes with one rejected.
To this outcome, the District Officer of the Electoral Commission, Madam Pearl Klutse indicated that since the Assembly could not get the Presiding Member per the vote cast, another nomination and elections would have to be held in the next ten (10) days for the election of a Presiding Member.
