Staffs of the Ellembelle District Assembly in the Western Region on Thursday at their staff meeting were reminded of the Local Government Service Protocols which guarded their work.
Addressing the staff, Mr. Rahman Timtey informed them that the Service deals with about 15 protocols and mentioned some of them as Scheme of Service, Duties and Responsibilities, Career Progression, Conditions of Service and Postings & Transfers.
He took time to explain the five protocols to the understanding of staffs but corrected the misuse of transfers as postings which often is used by staff. He explained that transfers have to do with being moved from Local Government Service to Ghana Education Service or Ghana Health Service. He said the movement from one service to another is what is actually termed transfer.
The District Co-ordinating Director, Mr. Emil Tawiah Atsu informed staff that together with the honourable District Chief Executive, they had signed the performance contract for 2018 and therefore admonished staff to work assiduously to fulfill the demands of the contract for the development of the District.
He hinted that each and everyone’s contribution was critical if that demands of the 2018 performance contract would be met.
Mr. Atsu observed that records management in the Assembly was bad and informed staff that plans were in place to train staff in records management adding that the training would be funded with the District Development Fund (DDF) where resource persons would be invited from Takoradi to train and give certificates to participants.
He mentioned that consultations with the Human Resource Unit was ongoing to have persons whose activities directly involve records to be the first group to be trained before extending it to the other units and departments.
He assured staff that management would do its possible best to create the environment for good working relations and urged staff to give their best for the development of the District.
