Ahead of the Kundum celebrations, the Esiama Community has marked a day dubbed “White Friday” which was geared towards cleaning the vicinities to pave way for the actual celebration which begins from the eve of Friday.
The cleanup exercise saw the town folks and participants clad in white with various cleaning tools during the exercise.
The Honourable District Chief Executive, Kwasi Bonzoh who led the cleanup exercise indicated that keeping surroundings clean will make inhabitants live a healthy life and in return boost productivity.
He called on the people of Esiama to make cleanliness a habit so that they can stay healthy “when we clean our surroundings, we stay healthy to go about our duties, the number of years we dwell on this earth is dependent on our lifestyle thus the need to stay healthy to achieve long life”, he added.
The District Environmental Health Officer, Mr. Ted Tettey indicated that the Environmental Staff were at the grounds to support the cleanup exercise.
He mentioned that the main task of the Environmental Unit is to ensure that the District is clean and that the Esiama Community taking a step to clean their surroundings needed some support from the unit such as the logistics used in carrying out the programme which they provided.
He urged the inhabitants to dispose-off refuse at only approved locations so that the clean District that all desire will be achieved.
The programme was climaxed with a float at Esiama.
