The Department of Social Welfare and Community Development has disbursed fund and items worth GH¢ to support the disabled in the Ellembelle District.
The District Social Development Officer, Mr. Wisdom Bakuyeya indicated that the support which was in various forms was designed in consultation with the disabled group in the Ellembelle District.
He added that the support came in the form of payment of school fees, medical support, fufu ponding machines, overlock machines, car spraying machines, overlock machines, wheel chairs, leather works, refrigerators and ice chests and provision items.
Mr. Bakuyeya pointed out that after the disbursement of the items, a four-member committee comprising a social welfare officer, planning officer, procurement officer and an account monitor the usage of items and funds by the beneficiaries.
He added that such disbursement was done in phases until all the disabled get their items of which the office monitors closely to its prudent so that the purpose of easing the monetary tensions on the disabled members is eased.
